Risking Connection® Trainers Recertified at Maryhurst

Ten Risking Connection® trainers at Maryhurst, Louisville, Kentucky received their recertification after attending a day-long training on October 28, 2009. Maryhurst has embraced the Risking Connection® approach and is experiencing significant positive results. Since implementing RC, restraints at Maryhurst are down 66%. Staff turnover has also decreased considerably. Maryhurst RC trainers meet monthly to schedule training for new employees, refreshers, and staff development.

TREATI Board Meeting Held

On October 23rd a TREATI Board of Directors meeting was held at Klingberg Family Centers with unanimous Board attendance. The Board reviewed the accomplishments of the Risking Connection® program in the last six months. The Board initiated a Strategic Planning process for the future of TREATI.

New Associate Trainers

On October 14-16 TREATI completed the training of 26 new Associate Trainers who will be offering Risking Connection® training in their own agencies. About half of these are part of a state wide project to train all the Extended Day programs throughout the state in Risking Connection®. The DCF Liaison to this project, Marilyn Cloud, participated in the training to plan the roll out of on going training throughout the EDT system. The remaining trainers came from agencies throughout Connecticut. Welcome to our community, new trainers!

TREATI Mission Statement

The mission of the Trauma Research, Education, and Training Institute, Inc. (TREATI) is to increase the abilities of mental health and social service workers to provide effective, ethical treatment for survivors of traumatic life experiences.  We pursue this mission through programs of professional training, community education, and research on the psychological impact of trauma on survivors, the impact of treatment on both helpers and clients, and effective interventions for helpers and clients.
